LET'S BE REAL.

A lot is said about AUTHENTICITY these days. And why not? We trust AUTHENTICITY. We value AUTHENTICITY. We encourage AUTHENTICITY. In fact, even when we don’t agree with someone, we still respect them if we believe they’re being AUTHENTIC.

Ironically, something seems to change when we gather as a CHURCH.  Even though we generally have no problem being ourselves wherever we go, for some reason the moment we walk into church, it seems as though we suddenly have to put on a MASK and act like our lives are PERFECT and AWESOME.  Even when they’re not.

But what would happen if we just decided to be ourselves–be REAL and AUTHENTIC–when we gather as a church?  What would happen if we valued AUTHENTICITY within the church and not just everywhere else?

This is our passion. This is our call. This is our mission.

Real Community Church is an independent church plant of Grace Church based in South Kansas City.

OUR VISION: THE WHY

Helping people become authentic followers of Jesus.

OUR MISSION: THE HOW

Experiencing GENUINE Love.

Encouraging REAL Relationships.

Equipping HEARTS to Serve.

OUR VALUES: THE WHAT

We believe in being REAL, which means being transparent about the good, the bad, AND the ugly. We believe church should meet people where they are in life and then use contemporary language and popular culture as a way to share God’s timeless Truth.

We unapologetically teach Biblical truth. We believe learning God’s Word and then living according to His Truth is what following Jesus is all about.

We are called to GO OUT into the world instead of assuming the world will COME to us. We believe Jesus meant it when He told us to GO be His witnesses everywhere from our local community to the ends of the earth.

We believe people are inherently worshippers by their very nature. The question is, what’s our chosen object of our worship? We believe God is worthy of our BEST worship and that we should never allow a person, place, or thing to come before Him. Worship should be a lifestyle, not just an event.

We believe God created the HOME and the CHURCH to be the two most influential environments in our lives. When we PARTNER both together, entire families can be transformed by God’s love.

An outward expression of love will always be found in our desire to give. God modeled extreme generosity for us by sending His only Son to die on our behalf. In the same way, we want to be generous with our time, talents, and treasure.

Is an explanation really necessary?

A LITTLE ABOUT PASTOR SHANNON & FAMILY

Shannon and Hollie have been married 15 years, and have three children: Trinity, Corban, and Shiloh.

Shannon is originally from Chicagoland, getting his start in Law Enforcement in his early 20’s prior to transitioning to full time ministry. He has served the local church in various roles ranging from youth pastor to senior pastor before planting Real Community Church in Lee’s Summit, MO. In his free time, he’s either hanging with his family, cycling, or indulging in a donut or three.

Hollie grew up a ‘military brat’ (her words!) and has lived everywhere from South Korea to Washington, DC to San Antonio, Texas. She met Shannon in Bible college where they spent several years traveling on a music team together. Hollie is an Elementary School teacher in the Lee’s Summit School district. In her free time, she loves hanging with the family, doing crafts, and dreaming of having more free time someday.
